Be Green with High Efficient Furnaces and Get Green Cash Back!
Lakeside Heating & Air Conditioning

The Federal government has extended the tax credit for 2010. What this means to you: If you did not take the tax credit in 2009 you can get it in 2010. The tax credit allows for a maximum amount of $1500.00 or 30% of the contract amount. You must purchase a 95% efficient or better furnace and it must be installed in owner-occupied homes. Along with the Federal tax credit, Xcel Energy is giving rebates for high-efficient furnaces up to $120.00.

FurnaceUpdating an old inefficient furnace to a high-efficient furnace is a no-brainer in today’s world. By updating to a high-efficient furnace you not only reduce the carbon emissions from your home; you reduce the natural gas utilized by the furnace each season.

There is also a Federal tax credit for high-efficient central air conditioning. Do your homework before purchasing one. The Federal guidelines are so restrictive that only a small majority of the brands of central air conditioning qualify. You must have a certificate showing that the air conditioner meets the following TWO requirements. 16 S.E.E.R – Seasonal energy efficiency ratio and 13 E.E.R. – Energy efficiency ratio. Ask you contractor for these documents before you purchase. On the certificate will be the equipment that must be installed in conjunction with other components required in order to qualify for the tax credit. Make sure that the coil model number is the one being actually installed and any additional requirements such as a TXV valve and a Time-Delay.

Rebates and tax credits go hand in hand with scammers. If a company has told you that you will receive a rebate or tax credit, and will pay you the money if you don’t receive the rebate or tax credit BEWARE! They are just telling you what you want to hear, and chances are if something is amiss and you don’t receive the rebate or credit, they will be long gone and you will never collect. If you are audited by the IRS, you must have the required documents, so make sure you get them, and check the equipment model numbers to make sure they correspond to the certificate.
