Job Title: Director of Sales
Department: Sales
Reports To:  President and Executive Vice President
FLSA Status: Exempt Base Salary with Commission Potential

Summary  Establishes, implements and directs sales programs to ensure the maximum effectiveness of organization's new sales efforts by performing the following duties personally and through sales team members and support staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements; prepares sales reports showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed client base expansion.

Visit BBB Accredited Businesses to maintain goodwill and to encourage greater participation in organization programs.

Develops and implements strategic sales plans to accommodate organization’s goals; directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals accordingly.

Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, price schedules and discount rates while working in conjunction with the President/Executive Vice President.

Directs channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and goals.

Delivers sales presentations to key clients in coordination with sales representatives; assists sales representatives with maintaining relationships and completing transactions.

Determines and directs sales staffing and training needs for the organization; develops and directs sales training plans, programs and procedures; coaches trainees on effective sales techniques.

Prepares reports on progress of sales trainees under direct or indirect supervision during training periods.

Keeps informed of new training methods, techniques of competitors and pending introduction of new company products to ensure current and effective training programs for sales personnel; analyzes performance of sales personnel to determine need for additional training.


Supervisory Responsibilities                      
Manages 10-15 non supervisory sales staff.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience                      
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university with a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills                      
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills                      
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability                      
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills                      
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Internet.
