Frequently Asked Questions – New BBB Business Reviews

 

  1. Why did BBB change from “Reliability Report” to “Business Review?”

 

    1. Usability study results suggested reports needed an easier to use layout.
    2. Desire to stay up-to-date with web design best practices and competitors’ sites.
    3. BBB’s pushed for design update.
    4. New name reflects “review” rather than “report.”

 

  1. What changes have been made in the new Business Reviews?

 

    1. A whole new look and feel
    2. A new name, BBB Business Review
    3. Photos and videos (videos not yet available)
    4. Maps and directions (this can be suppressed for work-from-home companies)
    5. Greater design differentiation between Accredited and non-accredited Business Reviews than currently exists
    6. Interactive elements (share reviews on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)

 

  1. How do I log on to claim my review?

 

No immediate action is required on your part, however; if you want to update your review, please follow these directions to create your BBB Account:

 

    • Go to www.denver.bbb.org and click “Check Out a Business or Charity”
    • Type your company name in the search field
    • Locate your company in the search results and click on “View BBB Report”
    • When you are viewing your review, go to the blue tool bar at the top of your review, click on “For Businesses” and select “Edit [company name] (Claim This Review)”
    • Type in your email address and select “No, I am new” and you will be able to create a password for your BBB Account
    • Update your company information
    • BBB staff will review the information you submitted; once accepted it will appear on your Business Review.

 

  1. Do businesses have to claim their review?

 

No. The purpose for claiming your listing is for updating your information.  If you do not wish to update any current information then you do not need to claim your listing.      

 

 

  1. What are the Main Differences between an Accredited Business and a non-Accredited Business Review?

A number of factors differ:

a.      Color scheme. Accredited Business Reviews are green; non-Accredited Business Reviews are gold/orange.

b.      Statement of Accreditation. Each Review will clearly state whether a business is BBB accredited or not.

c.      Photo/video tab. Accredited Businesses may submit photos and videos of their businesses; non- Accredited Business cannot. 

d.      Request a Quote. Accredited Business may participate in the BBB Request a Quote program and offer competitive bids to potential customers; non- Accredited Business cannot.

e.      Quick Links. Certain Quick Links will appear on non- Accredited Business pages, such as "Suggest this Business for Accreditation", that will not appear on Accredited Business pages.

 

  1. How do I upload photos?

 

Photos are uploaded by the business through the same process you used to claim your review (see #3 above). BBB staff is unable to upload photos for Accredited Buinesses.

 

  1. How many photos can you upload?  What is the price?

 

20 photos can be uploaded. One free photo will be included with Accreditation and each additional photo is $25.00 each.

 

  1. How many videos can be uploaded?

 

Three videos can be uploaded.  Each video is $100.00.  If you need assistance producing a video please check our online directory of BBB Accredited Businesses http://www.bbb.org/denver/accredited-business-directory.


  1. Can I promote my Gold Star Certificate, Longevity Award or Torch Award?

 

Per the photo policy, allowable content of photos displayed on the business review include BBB ethics/torch and similar BBB awards in accordance with BBB policy.  The BBB is unable to send the AB a digital file of its Gold Star or Longevity Award.
