Denver, CO – August 26th, 2010 – Since 2006, the Better Business Bureau Serving Denver/Boulder has offered a scholarship program to help deserving Colorado high school students attend college. Each year, the BBB awards one high school senior with a four-year, $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 distributed each academic year) to attend the Colorado college or university of their choice.

An eligible student must be a legal resident of Colorado and must maintain a 2.5 or better grade point average. Students must show evidence of economic need, leadership and community involvement.

“College was once an unattainable dream for me; with the help of the BBB my dream has become a reality. I am now living my dream and taking full advantage of the opportunity given to me,” said Rhesa Melvin, a senior at Colorado State University who won the first BBB Student of Integrity Scholarship in 2006.

The objective of this program is to provide an economically disadvantaged student who has demonstrated character and ethical values with the opportunity to continue his/her education beyond high school in Colorado.

In addition, this scholarship is intended to create long-term ties with future Colorado business leaders who will promote ethics in the marketplace as they pursue their careers.

The recipient of the 2010 Student of Integrity Scholarship will be honored at the annual BBB Torch Awards for Marketplace Trust luncheon on October 15th. To apply for or sponsor the Student of Integrity Scholarship, please visit http://denver.bbb.org/2010scholarship.
